I'm Not a Morning Person

life is about to get a HUGE wake up call soon.
in like three weeks.
and really, we should all start practicing soon because i totally believe kids thrive on schedules.
shit, PEOPLE thrive on schedules.
so here's what we have going on.
jon is starting school.  or should i say going back to school.
he has a four year degree from millikin, however he has had a change of heart.
and he is going to ranken for electrical design.
it is SO exciting because he is awesome at electrical stuff - and this has his name written ALL over it.
however this will be his life.  work from 10 p.m. - 6 a.m., get home, change clothes, be at school by 8 a.m., school gets out at 2 p.m., drive an hour home, and sleep until 8:00 p.m.  get up, eat, and start it all over.
for two years.
ok, he does get summers off, but still.
holy smokes he is going to be busy, and tried.
but it's just two years, we can do this.
stella will be starting school soon too.
back a prairie.
three days a week.
last year it was just two days.
henry - well, he's still at linda's because he refuses to quit shitting his pants.  awesome.
but that's for a totally different post.
oh and mommy, maybe she should put some more emphasis on getting to work earlier.
instead of right on time or five minutes late.
ayi.
SO needless to say we need to figure out a routine, a schedule, something - AND stick to it.
which also means we need daddy to stick to it as well when the kids are at his house.
i understand if he lets them sleep in on some days, BUT we need to stick to the SAME bedtime.
am i right?!  YES.
so for starters i have been googling the shit out of morning routines for momma.
because it's all going to start with me.
i found a post today that had some helpful tips on morning rituals that will make you a better morning person - and believe it or not it doesn't include 2983209 cups of coffee.  lol.
SO - i have told myself OVER and OVER to get my booty OUTA bed and workout.
oh and then i laugh and laugh at myself because i am not a morning person.
and then i see myself in the mirror and i think - BECOME A MORNING PERSON CASSIE.
start working out.
anyways........
a few things they suggested to add to your morning ritual.
drink a warm glass of lemon water.
ohhhh - i can see myself in bed drinking this and creeping on facebook.
that i can do.
i did the lemon water thing for like a week a few months ago.
holy smokes - that gets your insides MOVING!  lol.
i will have to add another ten minutes in the morning just to take care of that.  tmi?  sorry.
stretch.
i am great at that.
everyone loves them a good morning stretch.
dry brush you skin.
what?  sounds weird.
i do lotion up just about every day - and i tell you what - when i don't do it, i just feel all around different.
listen to music.
so we are on like four months without TV.  and i really don't miss it.
i do miss the today show but now i can listen to that in the car on the way to work.  holla!
BUT i do love me some music.  maybe i will start turning on my radio in the morning.
or find a good pandora station.
green smoothie.
i love me a good juicing day.
but i don't have the budget to do that every freaking morning.
i did just get some shakeology and i am finally loving that.
and it's fast and on the go - even better for our busy morning.
smile at yourself for 30 seconds in the mirror.
you don't have to tell me twice.  ha - jk jk.
but this is what they say:
This is a can’t-miss way to boost your self esteem, and once you get into the habit you’ll wonder how you ever got along without it. It’s basically just a matter of designating some time as true “me time” and seeing a happy you reflected back in the mirror.
works for me!

alright - so i need to print out this blog post and remind myself of it every morning when my alarm goes off at 5 A.M.  or record myself reading this post and have it play when my alarm goes off.  lol.

ok so now the even BIGGER issue.
getting S&H on a schedule.
oh how i have NEVER EVER made them "go" to bed.  our routine has always been, lights off at 9 p.m., we lay down on the couch and watch our shows until they fall sleep and then i put them in their bed.
stella is great with it, one or two shows and she is out.
henry could watch TV all.night.long.
all.night.long!
recently we watch two shows and the tv goes off.  and then homeboy gets goofy and just wants to be all boy.  ayi.
SO MOMMAS - i NEED YOUR ADVICE!
how do i enforce a bed time?  what's a good bedtime for a 3 and 4 year old?
advice to get me to stand my ground
is 8:00 legit?  or too early?  9:00 too late?
help help help!!

Good Luck with the morning routine tips - I'm gonna try that lemon water :-)
Brody's bedtime is about 8:00p-8:30p because he so hard to get up in mornings! He brushes his teeth, we say prayers, read a story and lights out. Usually he goes to sleep and sometimes he's still awake when I go to bed at 9:30p ....

Jon that is AWESOME!! My brother starts there at then end of August too!! I wonder if they will be together? Pretty sure he starts at 10 though.

I died laughing about Henry. Give him until his birthday, mama. Three is the magic number with boys.

And as far as a bedtime. We do 8 for school. I'm a night owl.. so I hate that they go to bed so early, but they need their sleep. I start the routine at 7. Bath, story, snuggles, lights out.

tell me about it! i'm in the same boat with carter. thankfully his preschool does not have a policy against this (public school pre-k). lmao!

Victoria has an 8:30 bedtime which has been a little lax for the summer . It's kinda hard to get her to bed when it is still daylight at 8:30pm. So it's been more like 9 - 9:30. At 8, we start with brushing our teeth followed by washing up (on a non-bath night) and pj's. We read 2 books and then it's lights out. It can be a challenge sometimes but consistency is the key. Good luck :)
