Purple Paradise - The Power of Paint

Wow, I think last night I fell in love.........with paint.  No joke.
First off, I about had a heart attack in Home Depot when I found out the shit was $30 a can.  Dude it better jump on the wall itself for 30 bones.  But I thought, hey if it means I only have to slap on one coat of paint, I'll take it.  And I had a gift card so it's not like it's money coming out of my pocket.  So let me introduce you to my boy-fran:
Paint and Primer in One = True Love
Yeah I even did the game like you did in grade school where you counted up the Ts Rs Us Es Ls Os and Vs to see what we would get, yep 100%.  See what I mean when I said I fell in love.  Because we all know if we do me and my husband we just get a 67.  Yikes (thanks again Kacie)!  Anyways.....this stuff rocks!
We had our colors picked out thanks to this:
Funny story - and true story.  I think the lady who mixed the paints for us had all of these colors, in.her.hair.  I think I drooled a bit from starring.  I think Stella even starred.  Anyways, one was a Behr paint already but the other wasn't, so she colored match it and wa-la, we were ready to head home and paint.
When we got home we headed straight for the room and popped open the can and poured it into the paint tray.  And then I froze.  The grey had a hint of purple in it.  Nooooo!!!  What happened!  This was the color they had to "color match" I was praying she didn't mess up.  But we had no fear and slapped her on the wall.  PTL - it was grey, we must just see everything with a purple haze in that room since we have been starring at those walls for so long.
Let me just tell you the best thing about having a Momma's girl.  Well, she wants her Momma all the time.  And we may be a bit redneck with this purple paradise of a non matching room we have been shacked up in for the past 2 years, but I ain't gona let my baby hang out in a room while I'm painting away.  So I was on Mommy duty and Daddy was on paint duty.  Darn the luck, huh?.  But in all reality he is WAY taller than me so he is better at rolling and then I just do all of the edging.  Makes perfect sense to me!  In no time we had this:
Wait, let me tell you a little story about that ladder.  All I wanted was a step ladder.  Get that a STEP ladder.  Like two little steps and I can fold it up and tuck it next to the washer or something.  One day I come home to find this baby on my front porch (insert more redneck points).  And I immediately thought, "please tell me that is not for me."  Men, do they listen to half of what you say and buy what they really want?  Yes, I believe they do.  So this is the "step" ladder I have now, that we store in the garage and literally have to walk with my cheeks squeezed together from the garage all the way to our room hoping I don't knock something off the table or wall with the damn thing.
But anyways, this morning we got up and went into the room and the grey looks amazing!!  No need at all for a second coat.  I was just blown away by how well it covered up the purple!
The new boy-fran is already gaining TONS of points.  Wait till I introduce him to my parents!
So I am happy to say the Purple Paradise is just about gone.  We are doing the dark wall tonight and hopefully back into our normal bed tomorrow, fingers crossed!  Then just for the accessories!  YAY!

Hey! Don't blame me for the 67% =) Also, I did some research at BBB and I found two different pieces of wall art (well one piece is a set of three that you would probably hang together or seperate) that would look AMAZING in the new bedroom!
and I LOVE the new color! So awesome!

Where is the link? I need to check this out. And it better be in my price range, $50, that's all I got to spend there. Can't wait!

Those two shades of grey are almost exactly what we have in our basement so I might be a little biased but I think it turned out great...can't wait to see it when it is all done!!

Well....it goes over the $50 so I am still looking and I always get coupons for there, but I am still going to keep my eye out. I don't know how to do the link, but here they are...
Blossom Plaques (set of 3) $29.99
Yellow Blossom I(or 1) Wall Art $49.99
I know, I know $30 over...so I am still looking! Or I will just chip in =)

Thanks Meagan! Did you guys paint your basement or pay someone?

Kacie - YOU ARE NOT CHIPPING IN! NO WAY! I am getting your design advice for free and THAT'S IT! We will see how much I like the pictures and go from there.

So jealous. Just sayin.

Oh, idea...if you're looking for pictures for your wall, go to Google Images and google the color accents that you want. If you can find some images big enough, you can get them printed in all different sizes and hang them around your room.

hahaha...hire someone to do it?! You don't know my husband, hiring someone to do it would mean we would have to spend money, well more money...(un)fortunately he is a carpenter so he has done every single thing himself.

I just might steal that idea Heather...I never would have thought to do that!

Try this website too. You can actually pick out the colors you want. And if you want one color in the picture more than the other, just pick that color more than once.

Looks good!! This makes me want to start projects at our house. It wont happen, but it sounds good. :) I will keep that paint in mind for the next house. We put layers and layers of paint on our walls. I HATE painting.
