Letters to Stella

You guessed it, my little baby girl is 18 months old today so I'm going to get all sappy on you.  Ha, who is this softie?!  I know I know, it's called pregnancy hormones people; I promise, they will go away soon.

Stella,
Happy Half Birthday!  I can't believe you are 18 months old and that I can officially tell people I have a one and a half year old.  When did this happen?!!?  You are the most amazing little girl I could have asked for.  You light up my life every.single.day.
Yes, even on those days when you only want to eat hot dogs and chocolate covered donuts for every meal.  And insist on having ketchup, even though it's clearly not for dipping; judging by the amount I find on your fingers and all around your mouth.  But it makes you happy and I see the biggest smile on your face, and truthfully it doesn't hurt anything so you can have as much ketchup as you want.
And even on those days when you turn your whole plate of dinner upside down at the table and end of wearing half of it and the dog getting the other half.  You think it's just hilarious, and it's not.  But man oh man your little giggle gets me every time.
Or when you run from one side of the couch to the other and I have mini heart attacks as I tell you "no running" and "get down" over and over.  But again, that giggle and smile that is spread from ear to ear across your face melts my heart and I need to remind myself that you aren't hurting anything.
But those days of watching you take care of your babies by feeding them, giving them your binky, burping them and covering them up make me realize how smart of a little girl you are and how great of a big sister you are going to be.  Or those days when I ask if you want to go take a bath and you grab my hand and take me to the bathroom and get out all of soap and know which ones to hand me and then do your happy dance as I make all kinds of bubbles in the tub for you.  I love how the little things in life can make you so happy.
And just how much you pay attention to and try to do yourself.  Like standing on the porch and pretending to spit into the grass, just like Daddy does when he has chew in his mouth.  lol.  Or how you pat your leg and say, "Come on," not only to the dog, but to anyone you want to follow you.  lol.  Or how when anyone 'passes gas' no matter where we are you have to say, "Excuse you."  lol.
You crack me up and make me so proud to be your Mommy.  You are so smart and so full of life.  Everyone gets a joy out of being around you.  Thank you for being such an amazing example to me and teaching me to sit back and enjoy the small things in life.  You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and I love you more and more every day.  Stay young at heart forever.
Love, Mom.

Awww, happy half birthday Stella!

I love all the little things toddlers do, like when they are old enough to reach around and pat your back when you are holding them. Oh how I love it!

Love it!! Our kids definitely have instincts to know just when to give a hug and make us smile. Happy one and a half birthday to Stella!

She is too cute! I can totally see her standing in the hallway with just a shirt and diaper on patting her leg trying to get you to follow her to her room. So sweet!!!
